Full Service or Collaborative: How Involved Does Distill Media Need to Be?

By 4 March 2026No Comments

Not every municipal communications team comes to a video project from the same starting point. Some have a fully developed concept, internal approvals in place, and just need a professional crew to bring it to life. Others have a general goal but want a creative partner to help figure out the approach. We work well in both situations.

At the full-service end of the spectrum, we can take a project from initial concept through to delivery. That includes helping define the story angle, writing a script, building a shot list, handling all the production logistics, filming, editing, adding voiceovers or on-screen graphics, and delivering the finished product ready for upload. Your team’s main job is to show up for the shoot and give feedback on the edit.

At the collaborative end, we step in as a skilled crew supporting a vision your team has already developed. You bring the concept and the content expertise; we bring the cameras, the storytelling instinct, and the production quality. Some of our best municipal projects have come out of that kind of partnership, where a city’s communications team knew exactly what they wanted to say and we helped them say it in a way that made people stop scrolling.

The core of what we do in every project is filming and editing. That combination – the ability to capture footage with a journalist’s eye and shape it in the edit with a storyteller’s instinct – is where Distill Media’s value is most concentrated. Everything else we offer is built around supporting that core capability.

We also offer scripting, voiceovers, on-camera presentation coaching, and teleprompter services for shoots that require them. If a project needs a polished on-camera host or a warm, authoritative voiceover, we can provide that as well. The goal is always the same: a final product that serves your community and reflects well on your city.
